About the Project

The project addresses the growing importance of the so-called third mission of universities, which connects higher education institutions with the regions where they operate. Universities contribute directly or indirectly to the development of their regions through various activities, encompassing economic, educational, social, cultural, and environmental aspects. A crucial prerequisite is establishing collaboration with regional stakeholders, particularly entrepreneurs and public administration organizations, and subsequently ensuring the effective transfer of knowledge from academia to practice. Considering that universities in the V4 countries still have relatively limited experience with the implementation of the third mission, their knowledge and capabilities in this area are still developing and are often insufficient.

The goal of the project is to strengthen the knowledge and capacity of the participating universities necessary for the implementation of the third mission, particularly in the context of networking, collaboration, and knowledge transfer between academia, entrepreneurs, and public administration. The project focuses on the following interconnected areas: (a) identifying the needs of regional stakeholders, (b) establishing collaboration with regional stakeholders, (c) engaging in regional networks, (d) applied research & innovation dissemination, (e) professional education, and (f) communication and promotion.
